Datuk Lim Chow Beng

Congratulations, Lim Chow Beng! Our former school mate has been awarded the prestigious "Datuk" title on the occasion of the Melaka Governor's birthday (8th Oct 2011).

Chow Beng is the Pengarah for the Melaka State Tourism Dept. He is seen here in the Melaka Botanical Garden with a tourist - photo taken from Net.

Those were the days when this large boy was seen zooming around on his small Suzuki cub, sometimes with the big Chanthiran on pillion. Those Suzuki's in those days were built tough to take this kind of punishment!

MHS 185th Anniversary - Teja and Mahinder Singh

Teja Singh (2nd left), our ex-History teacher in Form One to Three, no longer remembers me but recalls Rajendra (extreme right) as the son of lawyer Devadason. On Teja's left is Mahinder Singh, who I was told was the tennis teacher during our time.

See the difference between the top photo and the bottom one? The bottom one is taken with a HTC phone, the top with a Blackberry phone. HTC wins hands down! But HTC Windows 7 phone features sucks big time! Yeah, I know, it's my phone ...

MHS 185th Anniversary - Renganathan (Bahasa Malaysia)

Mr Renganathan, our former Bahasa Malaysia teacher in Form 4 and 5, is very much a smaller man these days. Rajendra kept telling him to eat more. "Renga", as we fondly calls him, is still very active giving BM tuition. He was also part of the organizing committee for the MHS 185th Anniversary. Many do not know that he was an ex-MHS student as well.

See the difference between the top photo and the bottom one? They were both taken by my HTC Windows 7 phone. But the photo at the top sucks big time because it was not taken by me. Morale of the story: If you want a good photo, take it yourself! Other people may mean well by helping to take photos of you, but they will surely screw up your photo! :P

MHS 185th Anniversary - Ms Teo (Add Maths)

Ms Teo still looks the same 30 years after we left Form 5. She was our Add Maths teacher, and retired in 2009. Ms Teo, pictured here with Chanthiran, is now very much into Chinese calligraphy. She was talking to us about right and left brain balancing, and she seems to have it right with Maths (left brain) and art (right brain). Thanks to you, Ms Teo, for helping me get a Pass 7 in Add Maths. Nearly flunked as couldn't understand all the gobbledeegook!

MHS 185th Anniversary - Mrs Ho (Biology Form 5)

Still remember her? Us boys had the hots for her when our hormones were still raging. Mrs Ho, who taught us Biology in Form 5, is still a striking lady. Rajendra Devadason told her openly that us boys all had a crush on her back then. To which she blushed ...

Mrs Ho is pictured here with Chanthiran, at the MHS 185th Anniversary at Equatorial Hotel Melaka, Sept 25th 2011. If you look closely at Chanthiran's right shoulder, you will see Teja Singh in the background

And that's me with Mrs Ho. In the background on Mrs Ho's right is Ms Teo, our Add Maths teacher.

The other lady teacher who I was hoping to meet was Mrs Gan, our Chemistry teacher. But alas, she was nowhere to be found on that night. Anybody know what happened to her?

MHS 185th Anniversary - Mr Kumaradas

He may look smaller and nicer, but the memories of Mr Kumaradas while we were in school brought back fearful feelings. Close to our 50's, we still had to go to the toilet before meeting him, just to avoid pissing in our pants! Mr Kumaradas, our former disciplinary teacher, has mellowed over the years, and was nice enough to invite us to visit him when we are next in Melaka.

Farok

Remember Farok? He's the big guy who used to play Rugby in MHS. I met him with his family at a Hari Raya open house in Melaka today (17 Sep 2011). He's now with HSBC Melaka. Welcome to the blog, Farok!

Kajang Satay on 3rd April 2011

Ibrahim Chia (Chow Peng) is on foreground left, with Ee Tiang Hoon and Abdul Muis.
Sunday 3rd April 2011 saw us having a small gathering in Taman Ramal in Kajang, with me, Tiang Hoon, Abdul Muis and Ibrahim Chia. Ibrahim (Chai Chow Peng) looks very much the same like in school over 25 years ago. He's in the Internal Audit Division of Public Bank, based in Menara Public Bank, Jln Ampang. Ibrahim left school after a short time in Lower Six, and has been with Public Bank ever since. He also manages a futsal team, and is looking for sponsors who he says can reduce their tax burden by sponsoring his team.

Meet-up with Abdul Muis March 2011

Steven Ng and I met up with Muis for toast and half-boiled eggs in USJ 2 on Sunday 27th March 2011. Muis was our class and schoolmate since Primary school in BHES right on to Form 5 in MHS. Muis is staying in Sungai Long now and is the Sales Director of a company dealing with IT and telecommunications supply. In Malacca, he used to stay in Alai. He used to tease me in school for my stuttering. Those were the days when come CNY, he would visit me and Tang Cheng in Semabok, and come Hari Raya, we whacked the Raya goodies in his house. Welcome to the forum, Muis. You still look your cheerful self, except for the misai
